Hi! I found this in book. It's reference states "The Book of Rites - Month
by Month manual to Child-Bearing".

1st Mth:
When the child is conceived, the nervous system begins to form in the
embryo. Mother tends to favour sour foods & should consume chicken essence.

2nd Mth:
The heart, brain & sex organs are being formed. Mother should eat more meat.

3rd Mth:
Placenta is formed during the 1st 3 mths. Mother must have plenty of rest
to avoid miscarriage. She should have more chicken soup.

4th mth:
The foetus develops very quickly from this stage and the movement of the
baby can be felt. The mother's appetitie begins to improve and she should
eat more rice, fish & poultry to provide nourishment to her child.

5th Mth:
The ears, nose, mouth & nails of foetus are being developed. The mother is
encouraged to eat more beans & meat.

6th Mth:
Hair, eyebrows, eyelashes and skin are developing well in the foetus. The
mother must consume more meat to improve vitality & blood circulation.

7th Mth:
All the major organs of the foetus are fully developed. A baby born at this
stage can survive. The mother is encouraged not to consume food which is
not warm or heated as having chilled or cold food will harm the development
of the child's bones & teeth.

8th Mth:
Hair develops on the limbs of the foetus. Its nails grow. The baby keeps
moving in the womb and the mother feels restless. The mother should eat
foods which give nourishment & improve the complexion.

9th Mth:
The foetus moves towards the birth canal. The mother feels more tired &
restless. She should eat food that will restore energy & prepare her for
the delivery of the child.

Oh boy!! I have been eating an orange and an apple plus occasional
watermelon a day since preg, and have been continue consuming them while
BFing. Aren't they supposed to be good natural sources of vitamin C for
mom and baby? Haven't noticed any effect on Cyrus though....

Subject: Eyes

Just read in a magazine that during pregnancy, our corneas undergo change.
For those who wear contact lenses, there might be a poor fit.

Prolactin, a pregnancy & breastfeeding hormone that changes the moisture
level of corneas, make them curve more! So, consider switching to glasses
until baby is weaned.

This is a rather interesting & revealing fact to me.

I was a contact lens user before Sarah was born. Surprisingly I didn't have
much problems with contact lens use DURING pregnancy. But after birth, I
found them uncomfortable since my eyes seemed drier (even though I was using
weekly disposable lenses which are supposed to be more permeable). Only
when Sarah was about 8 mths could I comfortably wear contact lenses again
(even though I bf her only 1 mth). By then, I was so used to the
convenience of wearing glasses again, I mainly stuck with it!!! Until now.

I was told not to take anything cooling during the pregnancy
until the last 3 wks. Then u can start taking coconut water,
korean ginseng, bird nests etc so as to avoid jaundice in
the baby. Hv not heard anything like that abt bfing diet
except to avoid alcohol, coffee, tea. The rest of the diet
depends on what yr baby is allergic to (if any).

I was able to take orange and apple. In fact was hving lots
of them. The main fruit to avoid was papaya.
